Christine Wetzler: A Life Devoted to Family and Helping Others (September 29, 1949 – September 8, 2024)
Christine Wetzler, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, in Hemet, California, at the age of 74.
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1949, Christine moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where she spent a significant portion of her life. After graduating from Wright Tech as a Licensed Practical Nurse, she embarked on a fulfilling 45-year career as a dental assistant for Dr. Craig Claubaugh’s practice.
Christine’s inherent desire to help others extended beyond her professional life. She volunteered at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church in Stamford and readily offered assistance to her neighbors. This dedication to service ultimately led her to pursue careers in nursing and dental assisting.
Family was Christine’s greatest joy. She actively supported her daughter, Heather, throughout her childhood, attending dance recitals, softball games, and volleyball matches at Stamford Catholic. Every holiday season, Christine cherished spending time with her brother, Nick, and their extended family. These moments filled her with immense happiness.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Heather, and son-in-law, Nick; her brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Bonnie; her niece, Kristin; and her nephew and his wife, Paul and Krisa. She was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Stella.
A memorial service honoring Christine’s life will be held at 10:00 am in the Chapel at the Camelot in Hemet, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Christine’s memory to College Match LA, an organization that empowers first-generation, low-income students to pursue higher education. (Link: https://collegematchla.networkforgood.com/projects/133301-college-match-la)
