In Loving Memory of Noemie Hapetian-Zanazanian
April 12, 1930 – December 3, 2025 Age 95
Noemie “Nono or Nene” Zanazanian, a longtime resident of the Inland Empire in Southern California, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Corona at the age of 95.
She was born on April 12, 1930, in La Ciotat, France, during the hardships of World War II, to Setrak Hapetian and Elise Kerkbechian-Hapetian. At nineteen, she met her soulmate and lifelong partner, Garabed Zanazanian, in Armenia. Their union was lovingly arranged by her mother-in-law, who remained a loving loyal supportive presence in her life for the first ten years of their marriage. They had three children, two sons-Erick and Arsen and one daughter Christine.
Noemie had a warm and generous spirit. She loved styling hair, cooking, gathering with friends and family, and filling her home with affection. She often expressed her love through the tender Armenian phrases she called out to those she cherished: im gigerus (my precious – to her sons and grandsons), im sirdus (my heart to her grandchildren), im axchikgus (my sweet daughter- to her granddaughters), and im anoushigus axchikgus (my sweetest daughter). These words became part of her family’s language of love and comfort.
While living in Russia, Noemie discovered a faith that shaped the rest of her life. She joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was baptized in 1960. She loved reading and studying the Bible, sharing stories of Christ, and encouraging others with her hope in Jesus’ second coming. One of her favorite hymns, “I Come to the Garden Alone,” held deep meaning for her and reflected the quiet, personal devotion she carried throughout her life.
Noemie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Frances, Janno, and Hacob; her youngest sister, Anna; her husband, Garabed (74 yrs-2003); and her two sons, Erick (65 yrs-2015) and Arsen (51 yrs-2003) and 1st wife of Arsen, Urszula (29 yrs-1982).
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Zanazanian-Bartholomew; two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Her 95 years were marked by love, resilience, faith, and the unwavering hope she shared with everyone she met.
